The Ocean Cleanup is a nonprofit organization run by a visionary founder Boyan Slat. The Ocean Cleanup focused on developing advanced technologies to rid the world's oceans of plastic pollution. Their main projects include:

  1. Ocean Cleanup Systems: Large-scale floating barriers designed to collect plastic debris from the ocean.

  2. Interceptor: A system to capture plastic waste from rivers before it can reach the ocean.

  3. Research and Advocacy: Conducting research on plastic pollution and raising awareness about ocean health.

There’s a giant whirlpool of plastic in the ocean called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, but there are more places like that we don’t know much about.

Scientists want to explore other ocean whirlpools to figure out how to clean up all the trash in the sea!
