Seabin, based in Sydney, is all about cleaning up our oceans and waterways with their cool floating trash collectors.
There’s a real need to tackle plastic and debris in the water, and these devices make it easier to protect marine life.
Plus, they’re mapping out where all the floating junk is to help solve the problem!
The Seabin (V5) can filter up to 262.8 million litres of water per year, the next one (6.0) can filter up to 481.2 million litres of water per year.
Each unit uses an electrical underwater pump, powered either by solar power or standard electricity, with electrical consumption of the V5 - around AUD $3.40 per day, and the 6.0 units are around $3.70 per day.
You can join Seabin by visiting their website. There are plenty of options for community involvement, donations, and partnerships. Seabin also organizes many events and offers volunteering opportunities for specific projects.
