Narrabeen Beach - Clean up

The microplastic that we found at the beach

Today we went to the beach after the recent stormy weather, but unlike the previous time, we were prepared! We brought baskets and bags to collect the rubbish. And oh dear, we found heaps and heaps of plastic fragments everywhere—lollipop sticks, wrappers, popped balloons, and more.

We're so happy that we managed to collect so much in less than 45 minutes!

Attack or not attack? That is the question!

Can the Green Weaver Ants outsmart the greasy bulldozer and protect their rainforest? Can they save their newly built nest?

Of course, they can!

Especially once their unassuming friends— the Chicken Nuggets, aka KIDZ who CARE—come to their aid!

Clean up - Part 2 / Wakehurst Parkway

We are continuing to clean the Wakehurst Parkway, one part at a time.

During this clean up, we found plenty of wrappers, “P” and “L” plates, and even a sink!

We also had an idea how to ask the passing cards to slow down - we prepared a large sign to inform everybody that we are there - cleaning.

Did you know that only 9% of plastic waste was recycled in Australia in 2023, while a staggering 84% ended up in landfill (amounting to 2.1 million tonnes)?

This time, our Chicken Nuggets are taking a trip to a recycling plant to lend a hand with the rubbish collected from the sea! While they create a bit of havoc in the facility, they ultimately take pride in sending raw materials back to manufacturers for recycling into new and exciting products.

Clean up - Part 1 / Wakehurst Parkway

How simple it is to just grab a bag, a pair of gloves, and head out to collect some rubbish! That's exactly what we did over the weekend. It took us 1.5 hours to collect three bags full of trash, an old air-conditioning unit, a broken umbrella, and a few other random bits and pieces.

The final result? Priceless!

It took us 2 hours to clean this parking spot, but it was worth it!
